Safety disclaimer
Planning tools can organize a decision. They cannot inspect your equipment, wiring, campsite, health needs or local conditions.
Electrical and battery systems
Follow the current manufacturer manual and all voltage, current, power, temperature, ventilation, grounding, polarity and connector limits. Do not use damaged batteries, cables or adapters. Stop using equipment that becomes unusually hot, swollen, wet, damaged or produces smoke, odor or abnormal noise.
Solar and vehicle charging
Confirm open-circuit voltage across the expected temperature range, operating current, polarity, connectors, fusing and controller limits before connecting panels. Vehicle sockets and wiring have finite ratings; a splitter or larger downstream inverter does not increase the safe capacity of the original circuit. Idling a vehicle can create carbon-monoxide, heat, fire, fuel and local-rule risks and should never occur in an enclosed or poorly ventilated area.
Fuel, flame and cooking
Fire restrictions change by location, weather and season. Check the responsible land manager before travel. Use fuel-burning appliances only as permitted, outdoors with required clearances and shutoff controls. Never use combustion equipment in a tent, vehicle or other enclosed sleeping space.
Refrigeration and food
An energy estimate is not food-temperature monitoring. Use an appropriate thermometer and follow current food-safety guidance. Power availability alone does not prove that food remained at a safe temperature.
Medical and life-support equipment
Emergencies
If there is fire, smoke, electric shock, suspected carbon monoxide, battery thermal runaway or an immediate medical risk, move to safety and contact the appropriate local emergency service. Do not rely on this website during an emergency.
